Recall Alert: Porsche Taycan Backup Cameras

2024 Porsche Taycan in Ice Grey.

Porsche has issued a recall for 183 Taycan electric performance sedans from the model year 2025 because their rearview cameras can fail to show what’s behind the car under certain circumstances. However, most owners won’t need to bring the vehicles in for repair, as Porsche has already fixed the problem remotely.

Porsche tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the problem occurs when the car is parked with its front bumper close to an object like a parking bollard. The vehicles can detect that object and activate a parking assistance camera showing what’s in front of it, even when the driver shifts the car into reverse.

Porsche included software code correcting the issue with a recent update downloaded over the air to most Taycan sedans. Owners should ensure their cars have downloaded the CW 25/2024 software patch to obtain the fix.

Federal law still requires the company to notify owners through the mail so they’ll receive a notice of the problem and its solution.

By law, recall repairs are always free.

Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the cracks. That leaves millions of Americans driving cars with safety defects eligible for free fixes. Find out if your vehicle has unaddressed recalls at our recall center.
