Recall Alert: Porsche Taycan

Porsche Taycan

Porsche has recalled 31,689 Taycan electric vehicles (EVs) from model years 2020 through 2025 to replace their front brake hoses.

The company believes just 5% of the cars may have a problem.

Porsche tells federal safety officials that “in certain Taycan vehicles, the front brake hoses may, over time, develop cracks leading to brake fluid leakage.” Certain steering conditions can repeatedly compress the hoses, Porsche says, leading to cracks.

That causes “reduced functionality” of the front brakes, though the rear brakes are unaffected, and drivers can still stop the cars.

Porsche is unaware of any accidents in the U.S. related to the issue. But the company says it knows of one overseas accident, which “involved a vehicle traveling significantly over the speed limit.”

Owners might see warning messages, including “brake fluid low” and “PSM failure,” as the problem develops.

Dealers will replace the hoses with a new model with an increased bending radius, which should be able to take the strain without cracking.

By law, recall repairs are always free.

Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the cracks. That leaves millions of Americans driving cars with safety defects eligible for free fixes. Find out if your vehicle has unaddressed recalls at our recall center.
