Recall Alert: Porsche Cayman, Boxster Rollaway Risk

The 2024 Porsche Cayman and Boxster Style Editions

Porsche has issued a recall for 10 Boxster and Cayman 2-seaters from model year 2024 because they can roll away when parked.

Porsche tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that an improperly installed safety clip may have damaged a transmission cable. If that damage has happened, the shifter might enter Park mode, but the transmission might not, allowing the cars to roll when parked.

Porsche is aware of two incidents related to the problem, both outside the U.S. Each caused “bodywork damage” but no injuries.

Dealers will replace the shift cable and safety clip to correct the problem. Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. Check the easy VIN tool at our recall center to determine if your car is one of them.
