Recall Alert: Mercedes GLC Driver’s Seat

Mercedes has issued a recall affecting just seven units of its 2023 GLC SUV because their driver’s seats may not be properly secured to their frames.

The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, “The rear bolting connections of the driver seat rail to the vehicle body might not meet current production specifications.”

That could be extremely dangerous. It might allow the seat to “move more than expected” in the event of a crash and prevent seatbelt and airbag systems from functioning as they were designed.

Mercedes says drivers might “notice noises and movement in the seat” of affected cars.

The company says it knows of no injuries or accidents related to the problem, but at least one customer has experienced it in their car.

Dealers will “rework the bolt connections between the driver seat rail and the vehicle body, if necessary,” to fix the problem.
