Recall Alert: Mercedes-Benz GLA, CLA

2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA

Mercedes-Benz is recalling about 5,000 2017 CLA 250 coupes, 2017-2018 CLA 45 AMG coupes, and 2017-2018 GLA 250 and GLA 45 AMG SUVs due to a potentially dangerous steering defect.

The vehicles may have an improperly sized steering shaft borehole, which could cause the universal steering joint to separate, leaving the vehicle uncontrollable. Mercedes is not aware of any accidents or injuries tied to the defect.

Dealers will replace the entire steering shaft free of charge. Owners can expect to receive a notice in the mail soon, with repairs scheduled to begin May 31. Mercedes customer service is available at (800) 367-6372 if you should wish to reach them sooner.

Recall repairs, by law, are always free. Though automakers try to reach every owner, they don’t always have the means of contacting them all. To ensure your car hasn’t been recalled, input your VIN at our recall center.
