Mercedes-Benz has recalled 689 eSprinter electric vans from model year 2024 because they can lose all drive power.
Mercedes tells federal safety regulators that welds on a helical gear within the rear axle can fail. That can cause the vans to lose propulsion.
“Additionally, the parking lock might not function as intended,” Mercedes says, though the parking brake should be capable of holding the vehicle still.
Dealers will fix the problem by replacing the entire rear axle electric drivetrain free of charge.
