Mercedes-Benz is recalling some of its 2022 EQS sedans to correct a fault that could lead to driver distraction. But owners don’t need to bring their cars in for repair. The cars have already repaired themselves.
The flagship of Mercedes’ new lineup of electric vehicles, the EQS hasn’t been on sale for long. So, the recall affects only 227 vehicles.
In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mercedes explains, “The MBUX infotainment system might allow activation of the television and internet display while driving, causing a distraction for the driver.”
The company has already pushed out a software update that corrects the problem. But the law requires automakers to notify owners of any recall affecting their cars. So, EQS owners can expect to receive a notice in the mail letting them know that the defect once existed.
Recall repairs are always free. Many cars are recalled, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your car has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
