Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for 396 E-Class sedans from model year 2024 because a wiring problem can cause them to lose propulsion suddenly.
The company tells federal safety officials that, in some cars, “the transmission wiring harness could contact the front drive shaft and chafe over time. This could damage the wiring harness, potentially resulting in a loss of vehicle propulsion without prior warning.”
The company says it has received no reports of the problem happening to customers. Inspectors discovered it at the factory.
Dealers will inspect the routing of the wiring harness and correct it if needed.
