Recall Alert: Mazda CX-90

Mazda is recalling about 44,000 CX-90 SUVs from model year 2024 because a problem with their power steering systems can cause “a sudden and unexpected change of steering effort.”

Drivers can still steer the car when the problem occurs. But a steering wheel that suddenly requires more or less effort to turn could contribute to a crash.

Mazda tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that the problem involves a worm gear in the power steering assembly. Dealers will replace the spring that engages the gear and reapply grease to decrease friction.

Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. They try to notify every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, but they rarely reach them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
