Recall Alert: Lucid Air

2022 Lucid Air Grand TouringElectric car startup Lucid has issued its second-ever recall alert, affecting 1,117 2022 Air sedans, all built before May 4, 2022. The vehicles have display screens that may work intermittently or stop working altogether.

The problem, Lucid explains in documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is a loose wiring harness that can come in contact with part of the steering shaft.  Chafing of the harness can lead to an inadequate electrical flow to the driver’s instrument screen.

If the screen goes dark, the driver can’t see their speed, warning lights, or other critical safety information.

Lucid will inspect the wiring, replace any worn wires, and secure the new wiring harness so it can’t rub against the steering shaft. Lucid will mail notices to owners next month. In the meantime, owners may contact Lucid customer service at 888-995-8243.
