Lincoln has issued a recall alert for approximately 1,189 Navigators for the 2026 model year because their power seats can move without input.
The company said, “Customers may experience inadvertent driver seat movement while driving below 5 kph when the obstacle detection software loop error is present.”
The power driver seat may adjust on its own while the vehicle is moving around 3 mph, which may engage the obstacle detection system. The driver’s seat may continue to move all the way back, posing a potential driving hazard.
Ford told the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “The Driver’s Seat Module (DSM) software does not correctly cancel the automatic reversal motion.” The software defect overrides manual seat adjustments, causing “bounce-back.”
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this recall.
Ford dealers will update the seat control modules on affected vehicles to deactivate the “automatic reversal motion feature.”
Owners will be notified beginning March 23, 2026.
