Kia is recalling about 150,000 2020-2021 Soul and 2021 Seltos crossovers to correct a problem that may lead to engine damage. The vehicles may have improperly heat-treated piston oil rings. The problem affects vehicles with the 2.0L Nu MPI engine.
Dealers will dismantle and inspect engines for damage. Vehicles with damage will get a new engine free of charge. All Soul and Seltos crossovers will have new piston ring noise-sensing system software installed. This upgrade will better detect the problem should it develop later.
