Recall Alert: Jeep Wrangler PHEV

A 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid sits plugged in to charge. The Jeep is white and has four doors.Jeep has issued a recall for about 14,000 of its 2022 and 2023 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUVs — about 35% of those sold. The SUVs may lose power suddenly due to an improperly connected fuse in their high-voltage battery packs.

“An incorrect fastener can cause high resistance in the 200 amp fuse interface,” Jeep tells federal safety officials. Because of the fastener, the battery can generate heat. Too much heat can cause the fuse to fail, “resulting in a loss of motive power.” Drivers would most likely see a check engine light or notice a change in vehicle performance before the power failed, Jeep says.

Dealers will correct the problem by installing new fasteners for the fuse assembly.
