Recall Alert: Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai has issued a recall for 12,349 Santa Fe SUVs from model year 2024 because they can roll when parked. The company advises owners to use their emergency brake when parking until dealers can fix the problem.

Hyundai blames a software error. The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the software problem can cause physical damage to the transmission.

Dealers will follow a two-step process to fix the issue. They’ll update the software in every recalled Santa Fe. They’ll then inspect the transmission and, if necessary, replace overly worn components.

Hyundai says drivers might notice an unusual noise when parking, or have difficulty shifting into park or drive as the problem develops.

Recall repairs are always free.
