Genesis has issued a recall for about 19,000 vehicles because a problem with their fuel pumps could lead to a sudden loss of drive power.
The recall affects some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2021-2022 Genesis G80
- 2021-2022 Genesis GV80
- 2022 Genesis GV70
The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “The low-pressure fuel pump assemblies in the subject vehicles may contain impellers that do not meet current material characteristic specifications.” The impellers can deform over time, “resulting in a mechanical resistance that could lead to a shutdown of the fuel pump.”
Dealers will replace the fuel pump to fix the problem. By law, recall repairs are always free.
