Recall Alert: Ford Super Duty With Pro Trailer Hitch Assist

The 2023 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL with the XTS Appearance PackageFord has recalled about 18,500 F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks from model year 2023 equipped with the optional Pro Trailer Hitch Assist feature because they may display the hitch camera image instead of the backup camera image when the truck shifts into reverse.

The Pro Trailer Hitch Assist option gives drivers a separate camera pointed at the hitch, making it easier to align the truck with a trailer. But Ford says a software error can cause the truck’s center display to show that camera’s feed instead of the backup camera’s feed when reversing.

The fix is a simple software update. But these trucks don’t receive software updates over the air, so owners will need to bring them into the dealership to have the patch uploaded. Software updates are among the quickest service appointments.
