Recall Alert: Ford Super Duty

Ford has issued a recall alert for about 250,000 heavy-duty pickups because their driveshafts can shatter.

The trucks may have noise insulation panels that are not properly connected. They can loosen and droop, where they may contact the driveshaft. Contact with the spinning shaft can cause heat and unplanned wear, which can ultimately shatter the driveshaft.

Ford recalled some F-150 trucks due to the same issue late last year.

This recall applies to 2017-2022 F-250 and F-350 Super Duty trucks, though not every model sold, because the sound insulation was installed on different trim levels and packages during the production run.

Dealers will install new retainers to properly attach the insulation panels. They will also inspect the driveshaft for damage and replace any worn parts.
