Ford has issued a recall for about 18,000 pickup trucks because their driver’s side airbags may not function in an accident.
The recall applies to some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2023 Ford F-150
- 2023 Ford F-250
- 2023 Ford F-350
- 2023 Ford F-450
- 2023 Ford F-550
- 2023 Ford F-600
Ford tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the steering wheel clock spring in these trucks may have an insufficient weld, which could cause the driver’s front airbag to lose its electrical connection. That could prevent it from deploying.
Only clock springs made on certain dates are included in the recall. But Ford dealers must inspect the trucks to see when their clock springs were made. Dealers will replace springs made during the suspect date window.
