Recall Alert: Ford Escape, Bronco Sport

2021 Ford Escape drivingFord is recalling almost 115,000 small SUVs to repair a defect that could lead to an unexpected loss of braking power. The recall applies to certain 2021-2022 Ford Escape and Ford Bronco Sport SUVs. The recall does not cover the Ford Bronco, which is a different model than the smaller Bronco Sport.

Vehicles built on certain dates may have an incorrectly manufactured rear brake lining, which can degrade quickly. Drivers would still be able to stop their cars with the degraded brake linings, but the brakes would require more pedal force than normal, and the vehicle could require additional braking distance.

Ford dealers will replace the brake linings free of charge. Recall repairs are always free.

Most recall campaigns, however, miss some drivers. Automakers try to notify every owner to bring their car in for free repairs. But the notice doesn’t always reach everyone, leaving millions of us driving cars in need of free safety repairs we don’t know about. Find out if your car has ever been recalled at our recall center.
