Ford has issued a recall alert for about 800 2023 Bronco Sport SUVs because a leak in their anti-lock braking system (ABS) can cause inconsistent braking power.
The vehicles can still stop if the problem develops, Ford says. But the brake pedal may require more pressure than normal at some times and not others, leading to unpredictable braking distances.
Ford says that a ball bearing that creates a seal in a properly functioning unit may have been formed with a flat spot. At times, that flat spot can prevent a proper seal.
Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem. Dealers will replace the entire ABS module to correct it.
