Recall Alert: Ford Bronco

2021 Ford Bronco 4D First EditionFord has issued a recall for about 47,000 2021-2022 Bronco SUVs because their rearview cameras may turn on and not off.

The recall only applies to Bronco vehicles with the standard 8-inch central touchscreen. Models with a larger 12-inch screen are not affected.

The problem only develops, Ford says, when drivers reverse while the SUV is in its 4-wheel-drive Low setting. “The condition would only be introduced with the vehicle in 4-Low but would persist when switched to 2-High mode within the same ignition cycle,” Ford tells federal regulators. Owners can fix it in the short term by shutting the SUV off and restarting it.

Ford can fix the problem in the long term with an over-the-air software update. Owners won’t need to bring their Bronco SUVs to a dealership for repair.

The fix, as always with recall repairs, is free.
