General Motors has issued a recall for about 7,000 2021-2022 Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs riding on tires that could suffer tread separation. If the tread should separate while driving, that could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
The recall applies to vehicles using certain Hankook tires. The recall does not apply to all Hankook tires on Equinox and Terrain SUVs. The problem affects only tires manufactured on certain dates. GM is not aware of any accidents related to the defect. Drivers might notice a vibration noise or a bulge in the tire prior to tire failure.
Dealers will inspect the tires to determine whether they are in the suspect population, and replace them if necessary.
