BMW has issued a recall for about 2,300 new 2024 SUVs because their front passenger knee airbags may not deploy in an accident.
The recall applies to the following:
The automaker tells National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that the cars may have improperly stitched passenger-side knee airbags, which might not function as intended.
The company is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem, which was caught by the airbag supplier.
Dealers will replace the airbag to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
Manufacturers recall millions of cars every year to fix safety defects. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all.
