Recall Alert: BMW 7 Series, I7

The 2023 BMW i7 seen from a front quarter angleBMW has issued a recall alert for 384 7 Series sedans and I7 electric sedans from the model year 2023 because the controls that activate their hazard lights and windshield defrosters may not function.

BMW tells federal safety regulators that an “interaction bar” on the dashboard “may not activate the windshield defrosting/defogging system and/or the hazard warning lights. In addition, those control buttons may not illuminate when pressed.”

The company is unaware of any accidents or injuries related to the problem.

Dealers will replace the interaction bar to fix the problem. As always, with recall repairs, the fix is free.

Manufacturers recall millions of cars every year to fix safety defects. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely reach them all.
