Alfa Romeo has recalled 261 Giulia sedans from model year 2021 because they can develop a fuel leak. That can cause an engine shutdown and, in some cases, a vehicle fire.
Alfa Romeo tells federal safety officials that the company received a faulty batch of fuel sensors from a supplier in early 2021. The housing around those sensors is prone to cracking when repeatedly exposed to the heat of a working engine. That can cause a leak, starving the engine of fuel and leaking flammable gasoline.
To fix the problem, dealers will replace the faulty sensors with new models with properly formed housings.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Manufacturers try to reach every owner to warn them. However, some may fall through the system’s cracks and unknowingly drive recalled cars. Check our easy recall tool to determine if your vehicle has any outstanding recalls.
