Recall Alert: 2023 Toyota Tundra

2023 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition

Toyota has issued a recall for about 22,000 Tundra and Tundra hybrid trucks from model year 2023 because their payload capacity may be lower than what’s listed on labels inside the truck.

The problem exists only in trucks with spray-in bedliners, Toyota tells National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The company inadvertently calculated weights using out-of-date information from an older model.

The spray-in bedliner found in some 2023 Tundra trucks is heavier than the labels account for. Toyota hasn’t revealed the actual weight difference, so if you’ve been loading your Tundra to its full capacity, we don’t know how far over the limit your truck may have been. A truck loaded with slightly more weight than its listed capacity can experience early wear on parts. A truck loaded much beyond its listed capacity is dangerous, as it may not stop at a safe distance and can experience dangerous part failures.

The fix is simple — dealers will replace the load-carrying capacity label with a corrected one.
