Ford has recalled about 2,900 Explorer SUVs from model year 2023 because their backup cameras may not display an image.
Ford tells National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that a wire splice in the circuit that powers the cameras may not have been properly soldered. That can leave the cameras nonfunctioning. Federal law has required functioning backup cameras in all new cars since 2018.
Dealers will fix the problem by inspecting the wires and reconnecting any loose ones.
The company says it knows of no accidents or injuries related to the problem.
