Recall Alert: 2022 Toyota Sienna Second-Row Seatbelts

2021 Toyota SiennaToyota is recalling some new 2022 Sienna minivans to correct a problem that could weaken the second-row seatbelts. The problem is limited to Siennas produced on specific dates – just 2,259 in all –  so most Sienna owners will not receive a recall notice.

The second-row seatbelts in the 2022 Sienna pass through a D-ring that helps prevent the webbing from bunching. Some of the vehicles may have the wrong ring installed in one or both outboard seating positions – such as a left-side ring installed on the right-side seat.

Toyota explains, “there is an increased possibility that the seat belt material may ‘bunch’ and result in damage to the seat belt material that could lead to a tear” during a crash. A torn seatbelt will not secure passengers in an accident.

Dealers will replace the second-row seatbelt assemblies in all recalled Siennas at no charge.
