Recall Alert: 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS

2022 Mercedes-Benz EQSMercedes-Benz has issued a recall for its new electric flagship, the 2022 EQS ultra-luxury sedan. The entire recall population includes only 24 vehicles. But their owners need to pay prompt attention to the recall notice. The defect that led to the recall could cause a vehicle fire.

At issue: a possible loose ground connection in the wiring that leads to an auxiliary heater in the motor compartment. If the ground isn’t properly secured, it could increase electrical resistance, possibly triggering a fire.

Owners might notice minor electrical problems as the issue develops, including the left headlamp not lighting up properly. But the problem could develop without warning, so Mercedes urges owners to bring the cars in for repair.

The recall population is small because Mercedes has been able to isolate the manufacturing problem to a brief time window. Mercedes will contact the owners of affected cars.

Mercedes dealers will check the ground connection and secure it properly if it is loose.
