Recall Alert: 2021 Ford Super Duty Dually

Ford is recalling about 20,000 2021 Ford Super Duty trucks with dual rear wheels. The trucks may have front-wheel hub extenders that the supplier did not properly tighten. “This condition may result in the tire and wheel assembly detaching from the front axle, increasing the risk of a crash,” Ford says.

Drivers might notice noise or vibration from the area around the front wheels as the problem develops.

The company said it is not aware of any crashes or injuries from the defect. But, because of the severity of the potential problem, the company is telling owners not to drive their vehicles until the torque of the wheel extender nuts can be checked

Instead, Ford says, “Owners will be provided with a set of instructions to verify the hub extension torque. Some owners may choose to have a dealer verify the hub extension torque.” Dealers may choose to perform repairs at customers’ homes or to tow the vehicle to the dealer for repair.

Dealers will inspect the nuts and tighten them if necessary.
