Audi has issued a recall for 206 e-tron electric vehicles from model year 2019 because their brakes can fail.
Audi tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), “It is possible that the bolt connection from the input rod on the brake pedal to the actuator rod on the brake booster was not performed according to manufacturing specifications.” The brake pedal can separate from the brake booster.
“If a complete separation would occur, vehicle braking would only be possible using the emergency braking function, increasing the risk of a crash,” the company explains.
Audi knows of no accidents or injuries related to the problem but has received three complaints of “unusual brake noises and brake pedal reset.”
Dealers will replace brake boosters on all the recalled cars to fix the problem. Dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Automakers try to reach every owner with recall notices, but some always slip through the cracks. That leaves millions of Americans driving cars with safety defects eligible for free fixes. Find out if your vehicle has unaddressed recalls at our recall center.
