Ram Recalls HD Trucks Over Seat Belt, Airbag Issues

Ram has recalled 52,565 heavy-duty trucks because a software problem can deactivate their stability control systems, airbags, and seat belt pretensioners.

Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:

The company tells federal safety regulators that a module that controls airbags and seat belts can “go into an offline state while driving.” That could shut down the stability control program and leave airbags and pretensioners unable to activate in an accident.

Dealers will fix the problem with a software update. Software updates are typically quick service appointments.

By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
