Ram Recalls 317,000 Heavy-Duty Trucks

Ram has issued a recall for 317,630 heavy-duty pickups from model years 2017 and 2018 because a faulty control unit can cause their anti-lock brake systems, electronic stability control, and traction control to fail.

Ram tells federal safety officials that a large batch of brake hydraulic control units received from a supplier is susceptible to a malfunction that can reduce the performance of all three safety systems. That will change how a truck behaves, which could lead to an accident.

The company knows of no accidents or injuries related to the problem but has received more than 50,000 warranty claims over it.

Dealers will replace the hydraulic control unit to fix the problem. Recall repairs are always free.
