Let’s get this straight – no one is going to fail to notice the 2022 Ram 1500 TRX no matter where it is.
If they don’t see the immense t-rex coming on its 35-inch tires, with nearly a foot of ground clearance and more hood vents than most car factories, they’ll hear it. A 702-horsepower supercharged 6.2-liter V8 is not quiet.
All the same, Ram has introduced a new special edition of its already hard-to-find supertruck painted in the color of the sand it’s designed to pummel.
Ram didn’t actually sandblast the 1500 TRX Sandblast Edition to bare metal for a Mad Max look. Instead, they painted it a color Ram calls Mojave Sand.
It’s a pricey color. The standard TRX starts at $78,790, plus $1,795 shipping and handling. The sticker on the window of the Sandblast Edition reads $98,285. It goes on sale this summer.
And nearly no one will pay a price that low. The TRX is as famous for dealer markups as it is for its snarling performance.
The extra $20,000 also gets you 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels (not actual beadlocks, as they’re still illegal in some states). It also includes a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs, bed step, and an LED cab-mounted brake light.
Inside, it gets “light frost” accent stitching, carbon fiber trim, unique badges, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a head-up display, and “a driver’s screen that features TRX in Mojave Sand.”
