Ram will again offer a Lone Star version on its 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty pickups, taking the wraps off this Texas-only model at the DFW Auto Show. The Ram Lone Star 2500 and 3500 HD models feature the Lone Star name stamped into the tailgate and special badging.

“First and foremost, the Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star edition is a powerful, hard-working truck that meets the demands of Texas truck buyers,” said Reid Bigland, head of Ram in revealing the new pickup. “Trucks are a big part of life in the Lone Star State, and Ram offers the segment’s best combination of performance, strength, luxury and technology.”

Massive torque

Standard engine on the 2019 Ram 2500 and 3500 models is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 410 horsepower and 429 lb-ft of torque. An optional High Output 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel makes 1,000 lb-ft of torque is available only on the 3500. A lower output version of the diesel making 850 lb-ft of torque is optional on both the 2500 and 3500.

The 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Lone Star is available in 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, Regular, Crew and Mega Cab body configurations with a 6-foot 4-inch bed on Crew and Mega models and an 8-foot bed on Crew and Regular cab versions.

Standout features, pricing

The Lone Star package includes chrome door handles, bumpers and grille surround, halogen headlamps with an LED option, 18-inch wheels and two interior packages in four colors. Options include 20-inch chrome or painted aluminum wheels, a monochromatic Sport Appearance package ($1,195) or black Appearance package ($2,425). The Tow Tech Group and Safety Group are priced at $2,495 and $2,195 respectively.

Going on sale in the second quarter of this year, the 2019 Ram Heavy Duty Lone Start starts at $37,645 for the 2500 and $39,095 for the 3500. Prices exclude $1,695 destination.
