Porsche Unveils Mid-Level Cayenne S Electric

  • Porsche this week unveiled a new trim level of its Cayenne Electric SUV, more powerful than the base model but less so than the over-the-top Cayenne Turbo Electric.
  • The Cayenne S Electric will start at $128,650.

Fifteen choices are clearly not enough. Not when it comes to sporty midsize SUVs. Porsche, mercifully, has revealed a sixteenth version of its Cayenne midsize crossover for 2026.

It’s a lot of peppers.

The Cayenne S Electric, to be fair, is just the third version of the 2026 Porsche Cayenne Electric. There’s a pretty good argument for its existence.

The base model Cayenne Electric is plenty powerful, at 435 horsepower. If you want a step up from there, your only option, before this week, has been the what-did-you-say 1,139 hp Cayenne Turbo Electric, with its what-did-you-say-this-time $165,350 price tag.

A Goldilocks model between the two makes sense.

But, with the arrival of the Cayenne S Electric, Cayenne shoppers now face a bewildering array of options, including gas-powered, hybrid, and electric models with SUV or sportier SUV Coupe styling.

Let’s meet the sixteenth entrant.

536 and Sometimes 657 hp

  • Two motors, one per axle, give it 536 hp with a temporary boost to 657.
  • Porsche hasn’t revealed range figures.

A pair of electric motors, one on each axle, give the Cayenne S Electric 536 hp in ordinary driving. A temporary boost pushes that to 657 in launch mode, giving the car a zero-to-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds.

Those who opt for the Sport Chrono package also get that extra hp in a 10-second burst with a push-to-pass button.

Porsche hasn’t revealed a range figure for the U.S. In European testing, it’s rated for about 405 miles of travel between charges, but European testing tends to produce much higher range estimates than American tests.

The company claims it will charge from 10% to 80% in 16 minutes at a 400 kW fast-charging station, but charging stations that powerful are exceptionally rare in the U.S. It has a Tesla-style North American Charging System (NACS) port on one side and a J1772-style Level 2 port on the other, allowing it to use most public chargers.

Torque vectoring and a Porsche Active Ride Suspension should make the handling excellent, but they are both added-cost options.

Grey Exterior Elements, Colorful Interior Options

You’ll spot a Cayenne S Electric thanks to front and rear fascia elements in Volcanic Grey Metallic. The diffuser is painted body color.

Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur program normally offers interior customization to nearly any color for an unadvertised price.

With the 2026 Cayenne S Electric, the company is introducing what it calls “Director’s Cuts.” These are unique interior palettes available directly from the factory.

The first of them is called the Interior Style Package. It features two-tone leather upholstery in black and green, green seat belts, and green aluminum interior trim.

It adds an eye-watering $15,050 to the price.

The 2026 Porsche Cayenne S Electric is available for order now, with deliveries expected to begin at the end of summer.
