Porsche Recalls Macan Electric to Dim Headlights

2025 Porsche Macan 4 EV

Porsche has recalled 2,941 Macan Electric SUVs from model years 2024 and 2025 to fix a safety problem that poses risks to drivers in other cars — the headlights are too bright.

Federal law requires headlights to fall within certain brightness limits. Too dim doesn’t provide enough illumination for the driver, and too bright temporarily blinds oncoming traffic. Porsche tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration it erred in programming some Macan Electric’s headlights. When the high beams are on, they’re brighter than legally permitted.

Porsche fixed the problem at the factory for many, but it needs to reprogram the headlights in a few thousand that made it into owners’ hands before the update.

Dealers will reprogram the headlight software to solve the problem. This can’t be done remotely, so drivers must bring their vehicles in for the update. Software updates are usually quick service appointments.
