Porsche has recalled 173,538 vehicles because their rearview cameras may not display when the car is put into reverse.
Recalled models include some, but not all, examples of the:
- 2019-2025 Porsche Cayenne
- 2020-2025 Porsche 911
- 2020-2025 Porsche Taycan
- 2024-2025 Porsche Panamera
The company tells the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that “While the exact root cause is unknown, transient signal noise between the control unit and the Surround View cameras can, in certain rare instances, interrupt the signal from the rearview camera.”
Porsche can fix the problem with a software update. Most of these cars receive updates over the air, so owners won’t need to bring them to the dealership for the download. Their cars may have already downloaded the fix automatically. Owners will receive a notice in the mail confirming the solution.
But any owners who have disabled automatic updates may need to visit a dealership to have the software installed.
By law, dealers never charge for recall repairs.
Automakers recall many cars to fix safety defects, sometimes more than once. While automakers try to reach every owner to ask them to bring the vehicle in for repair, they rarely get them all. Millions of vehicles on American roads need free recall repairs. To find out if your car is one of them, check the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
