Porsche Celebrates Boxster’s 25th with Special Edition

There has been a mid-engine, two-seat Roadster with Porsche balance and style in the U.S. for a quarter-century. That’s something to celebrate.

Porsche is celebrating the 718 Boxster’s 25th anniversary with a special edition – the 2021 Porsche Boxster 25 Years. The car is not mechanically different than the 718 Boxster GTS 4.0 model it’s based on. It is pushed along by the same 394-horsepower, 6-cylinder engine. Power goes to the rear wheels. It gets there through either a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox or a six-speed manual.

But the 25 Year version’s design is unique. It carries some elegant callbacks to the concept car that inspired the Boxster in the first place. Those include a color Porsche calls Neodyme – almost copper but slightly lighter. The accents line the front and side air intakes and appear on the 20-inch, 5-spoke alloy wheels, and badges.

Porsche’s explanation of colors is entertaining – “Porsche is offering the Boxster 25 Years in GT Silver Metallic, although Jet Black Metallic and Carrera White Metallic are also available.” So they seem to think silver is the best choice. The fabric top comes in red or black.

Inside, the birthday model wears gorgeous Bordeaux Red leather or a more traditional black shade. The cabin features brushed aluminum accents, 14-way adjustable seats, and a heated steering wheel.

MSRP on the Boxster 25 Years is $98,600, plus $1,350 for delivery.
