Porsche Adds 911 4S Trims With More Power, No Manual

  • Porsche announced three new trim levels of its 911 sports car last week
  • The 4S Coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa get all-wheel drive and a horsepower bump over base models
  • But buyers can’t opt for a stick shift on these three

As if 2026 Porsche 911 shoppers weren’t already spoiled with choices. Now Porsche will offer them three more trim levels, the company announced, taking the total to 23 trim levels.

The company routinely adds and removes trim levels year after year, recycling a set of names Porsche loyalists are familiar with. These three bring back a common badge — 4S — as a Coupe, Cabriolet (pronounced “convertible” … more or less), or Targa model.

The company hasn’t announced pricing yet. We expect the Coupe to land midway between the $148,650 of the S and the $172,050 of the GTS model, with premiums for convertible and targa top models.

In Porsche lingo, a 4S is an all-wheel drive (AWD) model more powerful than a base edition but less potent than a Turbo or GTS model.

For 2026, the 4S 911 models get 473 horsepower, up from 388 hp in the base model. The last time Porsche offered a 911 4S, in the 2024 model year, it put out 443 hp. Engineers got the power bump by adding the intercooler from the Turbo models, but not, well, the turbo.

Standard equipment also includes sport exhaust, enhanced brakes borrowed from the GTS, and a torque vectoring differential to tighten handling.

The 4S Targa model also comes with rear-wheel steering, though oddly, the other two 4S models do not.

None of the three will be available with a manual transmission in 2026.

The models are already in the Porsche online configurator (without prices), so we expect them to reach dealerships soon.
