Polestar’s Beast: Polestar 2 BST Edition 270 Unveiled

Electric car builder Polestar has a new, limited-edition, high-performance model on the way. The company made its start building by high-performance editions of Volvo cars before setting out on its own as an electric vehicle (EV) builder. So it knows how to squeeze more speed out of a car.

Polestar will build just 270 examples of the Polestar 2 BST Edition 270. They’ll carry an MSRP of $75,500, plus a $1,400 destination charge. For an additional $1,000, they’ll paint a stripe on it to set it apart from other 2s. For $5,000, they’ll wrap the entire car in a “Battleship Gray” satin.

Inside, every BST ships with charcoal WeaveTech upholstery.

The Beast doesn’t get more power than any other Polestar 2. Its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup is good for 476 horsepower — the same total you get with the optional Performance Pack available as a download on other 2 models.

But Polestar says, “there are 166 notable and tangible changes from the regular dual-motor Polestar 2 with the Performance Pack.”

Any tuner shop knows that the best way to boost a car’s performance is to give it better tires. So the BST wraps its 21-inch gloss black diamond cut allow wheels with Pirelli P Zeros. Other changes include 25 mm lower ride height, stiffened suspension, and a new front strut brace to add steering feedback and performance driving feel.

“Production is planned to begin in mid-2022,” the company says, “with deliveries expected from the fourth quarter.”
