Polestar 2 Recalled Over Backup Camera

The 2021 Polestar 2 in white seen from a front quarter angle

Polestar recalled 27,816 Polestar 2 sedans from model years 2021 through 2025 because their rearview cameras may not display an image.

The company tells federal safety officials that the problem is software-related and can be fixed with an update. However, Polestar told the agency the update will not be ready until the second quarter of 2026.

Polestar vehicles receive software updates over the air, so most owners will not need to do anything to fix the problem. Those who have turned off automatic updates will need to force the update themselves or contact Polestar to arrange an installation.
