Pre-orders for the Polestar 1 sport coupe have been opened in 18 countries including the United States. Deposits of $2,500 will be taken for the high-performance car that’s expected to cost around $155,000 when deliveries begin in mid-2019. Polestar is the electric and performance car division of Volvo.

Buyers looking to put a deposit down will be able to use a new car configuration tool allowing them to see what their car would look like. The Polestar 1, which made its first auto show debut at the Geneva Motor Show, is a plug-in hybrid that makes 600 horsepower and has a pure electric driving range of nearly 100 miles. The first of a series of cars to come from the division, Polestar 1 will be joined by Polestar 2 and 3, which will be full battery-electric vehicles. Polestar also produces the 367-horsepower S60 and V60 performance cars for Volvo.
