The coveted awards, now in their 22nd year, were announced at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. The jury and award are independent of the show.
It is the second win for VW, which took Car of the Year honors in 1999 for its New Beetle, while Ford has won Truck of the Year 8 times, 4 times with the F-150. Last year’s winners were the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette and 2014 Chevrolet Silverado.
