Jaguar confirmed plans for another conventional SUV crossover to join the lineup below the existing F-Pace and the upcoming electric powered i-Pace. Intended to square off against key rivals like the Audi Q3 and BMW X1, this 5-passenger subcompact hauler will offer “sports car-derived AWD technology” as well as a selection of gasoline and diesel engine’s from Jag’s Ingenium family used in the F-Pace as well as the XF and XE sedans. Rumors are circulating that it also could spawn a hybrid variant at some point. Like the F-Pace, Jag promises its new E-Pace will boast the latest in connected technology and driver-assist/safety features.

“The combination of sports car looks with Jaguar performance will ensure that the E-Pace stands out,” commented Ian Callum, Director of Design, Jaguar. “Every Jaguar is designed to excite the senses, and we think E-Pace will do just that, albeit with its own individual character.”

Callum has good reason for being confident about the prospects of this new offering. In addition to earning World Car of the Year honors upon its introduction, the F-Pace was instrumental in helping Jaguar boost its total global sales by 83 percent last year. Given the small luxury SUV crossover segment is one of the hottest in today’s market, the E-Pace also seems destined to do its part to further bolster volume as well as profits. Slated to hit showrooms sometime next year, Jaguar plans to release full details on the new E-Pace SUV on July 13th.
