Designer Henrik Fisker announced plans to get back in the premium electric vehicle game with a new sports model that reportedly will leverage advances in lithium-ion battery technology to create a vehicle with a per-charge range in excess of 400 miles. The former head of Fisker Automobiles, which produced a high-end plug-in hybrid that went bankrupt in 2014, is relaunching his company as Fisker Inc. He told Bloomberg News the car, which is viewed as a kind of spiritual successor to the Karma, will go on sale sometime in the last half of 2017.
Meanwhile, the tooling and design for the Karma has purchased by Chinese conglomerate Wainxiang Group, which created a company named after the sedan and redubbed the car itself the Revero. It is starting production in Moreno Valley, California and is expected to be back on the market by next year.

At this point, Fisker has released just one preliminary sketch of the still-unnamed new model. However, he boasted that it have a new advanced lithium-ion-based battery developed by the company’s Nanotech battery division. In addition to giving this nascent Fisker model a claimed range of over 400 miles, the new pack reportedly is lighter, has a longer life and packages even more efficiently than a conventional lithium-ion design.
