Midsize SUV Crossover

This is the Most Popular 2022 Honda Pilot

Honda’s venerable 3-row midsize SUV is offered in seven trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Special Edition (SE), TrailSport, Touring, Elite, and Black Edition. The lineup starts under $38,000 and will top $50,000 when fully outfitted.

But the recent sales leader is the Pilot Special Edition, which carries an entry fee of around $40,000. Let’s take a look at this popular Pilot.

3 Rows of Spacious Seating

Although not exclusive to the Special Edition, it’s worth noting that the Honda Pilot offers one of the segment’s roomiest third rows. You wouldn’t want to put taller adults in the way back for cross-country road trips, though headroom and legroom back there are more than fine for cross-town journeys.

Cool Wheels, LED Illumination

The Pilot Special Edition comes with LED low-beam headlights and LED fog lights. This is perfect if your travels routinely take you through dark and mysterious environments. On a purely cosmetic and convenience dual note, the Pilot SE is fitted with a set of handsome black-painted 20-inch alloy wheels, along with a hands-free power liftgate.

Keeping Cool (or Staying Cozy) in the Cabin

The Pilot SE includes tri-zone climate control, which should help make certain everyone is happy with cabin temps during any drive. Second-row sunshades are also included and, if you happen to live in a chillier climate, rest easy knowing heated front seats are also standard.

Safety Features

Every 2022 Honda Pilot comes with the Honda Sensing suite of safety features. This includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, road departure mitigation, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. Other than rain-sensing wipers – which are only offered on the posh Elite and Black Edition trims – the Pilot SE comes with all the safety gear you can load onto this Honda SUV.

8-inch Infotainment Screen

Honda has sometimes had a rocky relationship when it comes to user-friendly infotainment systems. Thankfully, the 8-inch touchscreen in the Pilot is generally easy to navigate, though some seemingly simple controls (like tuning for radio stations) take too much of the driver’s attention. This recently updated infotainment system includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless smartphone charging, two front USB ports, two USB ports for the second row, satellite radio, Bluetooth, HD radio, and a 7-speaker stereo.
