Iconic British automaker MG is set to preview its first-ever crossover SUV at the Shanghai Auto Show. No technical details have been revealed about this precursor to an upcoming urban-oriented compact crossover model intended to expand the global reach of the brand. Given MG is owned by China’s giant SAIC Motor Group, this potential rival to vehicles like the youth-oriented Nissan Juke will certainly be sold in that country, with UK and other Euro markets also expected to be part of its ambitious future plans.

Created by a team led by MG’s Global Design Director, Anthony Williams-Kenny, the MG CS Concept matches its rakish profile and edgy character lines with bold fascia treatments. MG says the headlamps on the CS Concept feature a multi-faceted "shard" structure designed to refract light in different shapes and colors when seen from the side but deliver an octagonal beam that mimics that shape of the MG emblem when viewed head on. While no powertrain information has been confirmed, it’s believed the CS Concept and its volume-built successor will be fitted with a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine.
