Mercedes-Benz will limit some choices for U.S. buyers as it changes its plan for electric vehicle launches over the next several years. This means the EQC, an electric version of the GLC-Class SUV, will not come to America.
Instead, the EQS will be the first electric Mercedes to come stateside. Based on the ultra-luxe S-Class sedan, the EQS is also the most expensive electric Mercedes. It will go on sale this fall and be followed by four other electric models, progressively bringing electric power to less expensive parts of the Mercedes stable.
All plans for an American EGC are not necessarily dead. Since it is based on an existing Mercedes, it would likely pass American crash and emissions tests with minimal changes.
