Mercedes, like most automakers, sells more SUVs than sedans. But the company’s signature product is undoubtedly the E-Class sedan. Produced without pause since 1953, it’s currently number two in our list of the Best Midsize Luxury Cars. It’s known for an extraordinary balance of high-technology and old-school luxury.
And it’s due for a redesign. The current generation was unveiled in 2016. Seven years is a long time for a design to persist in the luxury car market, where automakers update cars often to keep them on the leading edge of technology trends.
Mercedes will unveil an all-new E-Class late this month. The company this week released a heavily-shadowed teaser photo of the 2024 E-Class sedan.
The company essentially builds two parallel lineups of vehicles, with an electric equivalent to many of its traditional gas-powered cars. The electric versions are sleek and curvy. Their gas-powered siblings are more upright and angular.
That trend appears likely to hold with the next E-Class. The car’s profile shows an upright front end and a long, sharp character crease running from tip to tail.
New Mercedes-Benz E-Class Interior Design (European model shown)
The company released details about the car’s interior in February. It showed a new version of the cabin-spanning Hyperscreen found in the electric EQE, with distinct screens for the driver, front passenger, and central infotainment display. It includes a selfie camera so drivers can attend remote meetings in the car (when parked) and lets passengers play games like “Angry Birds” while a filter prevents the display from distracting the driver.
The company hasn’t revealed any mechanical details. We expect to learn more as the final reveal – scheduled for April 25 – approaches.
